A Message from the Principal
Hello Hopkins Families!
I’d like to take this opportunity to welcome you and your child(ren) to the 2023-2024 school year! The first day of school is quickly approaching, Tuesday, August 22nd. This is always an exciting time for students, parents and teachers as we all look forward to a new beginning. Please remember to say your final goodbyes in the car and outside the building. The entire Hopkins staff and I are excited to be back and to see the students!
Kindergarten Orientation: August 15th: A-L 9:30-10:00 am, M-Z 10:30-11:00 am.
Kindergarten Staggered Start Schedule: August 22-24, scheduled individual appointments
A-L attends August 25th and 29th, full days, M-Z attends August 28th and 30th, full days.
New Student Orientation: August 15th: 1:00 pm
Meet the Teacher/Supply Drop off: August 17th: Grades 1, 2 and 3 from 5:30-6:15 and Grades 4 and 5 from 6:30-7:15. Please remember we have limited parking available so your timeliness and patience is appreciated!
Breakfast and Lunch: Menus can be found on the district website under nutrition services. Students will have recess before lunch. Cost for breakfast is $2.00, lunch $3.25 and milk is $.50. Applications for free/reduced lunches are available on the parent portal.
Classroom Assignments: Will be available on August 11th in the parent portal after 4:00 pm
Bus Assignments: Will be available on August 14th in the parent portal after 4:00 pm
Arrival Procedures: Bus drop off occurs in the horseshoe drive. No cars are permitted in this area from 8:45-9:00 am. Student morning drop off is 8:45 to 9:00 am at the side parking lot entrance (door 27). To eliminate traffic congestion on Hopkins Road, do not arrive prior to 8:45. To ensure the safety of students, pull forward in a single file to the stop sign to allow at least 7 cars to empty. Students should always exit the vehicle on the right side of the car. Parents do not need to exit the vehicle. Please follow the right turn only sign when exiting for safety and to ease congestion on Hopkins Road. Staff will be monitoring for safety and assisting students to class.
CAR Dismissal Procedures: Parents need to remain in their vehicles and hang the custom sign on the rearview mirror. Car dismissal will begin at 3:05. For safety purposes, please do not arrive before 2:40. Save the Date: August 26th for Saturday Social at Hopkins 3:00-5:00 pm. This is a Hopkins Community Celebration and welcome event sponsored by the PTA.
