A Message from the Principal
Hello Hopkins Families,
It has been a busy two weeks at Hopkins! Thank you to those families that attended this week’s Parent-Teacher Conferences and a huge shout out to our PTA and parent volunteers for helping to make the Valentine’s parties and Red Carpet Dance such a great success yet again this year! So much planning and preparation goes into both of these events and we truly appreciate your efforts.
It’s hard to believe, but these were the final holiday celebrations of the school year. Please remember that in order for parents to volunteer for any spring/end of the year parties, field trips or other school activities they must be background checked each school year. If you have not been background checked with the district and have an interest in volunteering for end of the year activities such as field day, the fifth grade party, etc. you must have a cleared background check for this school year prior to volunteering.
Fifth grade students heard a presentation about middle school and brought home their 6th grade course request forms on Thursday. Please review these with your child and return to their homeroom teacher by Friday, February 27th. Students should rate their elective choices 1 through 8 with 1 being their top preference.
Starting next week on Monday we will launch this year’s One School / One Book. The title will be revealed and we have planned some exciting and fun activities to go along with reading the book as a whole school. Each family will receive one copy of the book (THANK YOU PTA!). We hope that you will mark your calendars to attend our Family LIteracy Night on Thursday, March 5th from 5-7 (open house style) to celebrate literacy and some of the themes from our book. The Scholastic Book Fair will also be open and available for families to shop that evening. We hope to see you all there!
This year we will be having a Career Day! We, along with all the elementary schools in the district, will be planning another amazing experience for our students. Here is information for interested parent/community member speakers. We’d love for a diverse group of careers for our students to be able to listen and learn from. Please use the link in the letter to sign up to be a presenter on May 11, 2026.
Sincerely,
Ms. Anna Pavkov
